Update from Chile
Posted: Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Yo's brother Anders is a missionary in Chile with the International Missions Board. He's currently working in Temuco, a town about four hours south of Concepcion which was the town closest to the epicenter of the recent 8.8 earthquake in Chile. Since the quake struck, Anders and his missionary team have been hard at work assessing needs and the best way to meet those needs in the wake of huge natural disaster. This week he updates us on what's being done to help people, what the mood is in the country, and more. Check out the video, the interview below, and for photos and videos be sure to check out his blog.

This Week's Plog: 3/8
Posted: Monday, March 08, 2010

What a crazy month it's been, and it's only a little more than a week old. The month got started with me hearing about a massive earthquake in Chile; a country where my brother is currently working as a missionary. He and his family is fine, but they have a whole lot of work ahead of them now and could certainly use our prayers. Compared with what's going on there, everything here seems rather mundane and not nearly as urgent, but it is busy as we get ready for Easter, Prom and all the other big events of spring. So as we enter this busy season, here a few things to keep in prayer:

Yo's Brother - He's in Chile working as a missionary. Right now they're finding ways to help people affected by the recent earthquake. Pray for protection in a tense situation and for opportunities to share the love of Christ with people in need.

Easter - We have a lot of work to do get ready (and by we, I mean Adri; she's our events coordinator). Pray everything comes together smoothly and that we'll have nice weather that morning. Most of all, pray that the good news of the resurrection will change people's lives.

Allergies and more - the sniffles have been going around here at work; from allergies to the sniffles to bronchitis. Pray for health, for energy, for endurance and more for our weary staff.

Heavenly Father, you are such an awesome God. We go about our day to day lives often without thinking about how you always seem to have us in the right place at the right time to serve you and your kingdom. Thank you for giving us those opportunities, and help us to make the most of them. Father we pray for all the people affected by the recent earthquakes, from Haiti to Japan to Chile. Send you children to minister and to help, and keep your people safe in those desperate situations. Lord we look forward to celebrating your resurrection. We thank for this season of Lent to remember the great sacrifice you made, and we pray that people will once again be touched by the amazing good news that you were willing to die for our sins and to rise from the dead to give us new life. Oh how wonderful, oh how glorious; it should be news that we just can't contain. Thank you for you love and for a new week to experience your love, it's in Jesus name we pray, amen.

Submit your Plog Prayer request.
